2. Pay your applicable fee(s) over the phone. For applicable fees, see LBWD Rules & Regulations (Appendix A on Pages 77-78)
3. For all customers, see LBWD Rules & Regulations (Pages 26-28) for Cross-Connection & Backflow Prevention requirements

If a backflow prevention device is required, submit a design drawing to LBWD’s Engineering Development Service Counter for review and approval
4. For services combined with a residential fire sprinkler system, submit a copy of your sprinkler plans approved by Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD)

Option 1: Installation by LBWD Employees

The typical processing and installation time for your service is approximately 4-5 weeks

You will be contacted by LBWD approximately one (1) week after your Work Order has been issued by Utility Services and asked to mark your desired meter location

Note that water meters are normally located in the parkway, 18” behind curb face, and away from driveways

If you have not received a call after one (1) week, please call LBWD’s Operations Service Center at (562) 570-2390 or 570-2389 to follow-up

LBWD will work with you to confirm your final meter location after field verification

Once the installation request is scheduled, LBWD will notify you by phone

As applicable, your new water meter will be locked and kept off after installation until a backflow prevention device inspection by LBWD’s Meter Shop is completed. Please schedule the inspection by calling LBWD’s Operations Service Center at (562) 570-2389 or 570-2390
