Install High-Efficiency Showerheads
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that showers account for approximately 17% of all indoor water use. High- efficiency showerheads can reduce water consumption from 2.5 gallons per minute (gpm) to as low as 1.5 gpm.
Find out how much water your showerhead uses. The simplest way to measure shower flow is to put a bucket or gallon bag under the showerhead, Turn on the water and time how long it takes the bucket or bag to fill to the one gallon level. If it fills in 15 seconds or less, your showerhead is using 4 gallons per minute or more. Replace this showerhead with a high-efficiency model. If it takes 30 seconds or more, you already have a high-efficiency model.
