Water Supply Portfilio

This pie chart represents the drinking water supply portfolio provided by the Long Beach Water Department to the City of Long Beach. The city's two primary drinking water sources are groundwater, which provides up to 60 percent of the supply and imported water, which provides the remainder of the supply.

In addition, the Department provides recycled water to many outdoor and industrial uses throughout the city. Water conservation is also very important, reducing the amount of imported water that must be purchased  from increasingly unreliable sources.
