LANA HADDAD

DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT & PUBLIC AFFAIRS

A recognized leader with over two decades of professional public and non-profit sector experience, Lana Haddad manages the Government and Public Affairs Bureau for the City of Long Beach’s award-winning Water Department. As the bureau director, Lana is responsible for managing strategies for effective communication, customer support, and public engagement with the City’s nearly half a million diverse residents as well as advocacy on behalf of the Department and customers’ interest in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. Highlights of her work at LBWD include a number of innovative community engagement initiatives and partnerships, brand development and management, social media and campaign development, and strategic planning. Additionally, Lana is an integral member of the City of Long Beach Government Alliance on Race and Equity team, a cross-departmental project coordinated through the City of Long Beach’s Office of Equity.

Lana is committed to service, excellence and lifelong learning. She has represented the cities and agencies for which she’s worked in many statewide industry associations and their respective committees, including the Association of California Water Agencies Federal Affairs and Energy Committees; the League of California Cities Environmental Quality Policy Committee; the California Special Districts Associations Legislative Committee; and the California Association of Sanitation Agencies Federal Legislative Committee. Currently, she serves as committee chair for the California Municipal Utilities Association Legislative Committee and is a past chair of the association’s regulatory committee.

Since November 2016, Lana has been an active member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Women in Water, Energy and the Environment and chairs the newly formed AWWEE Membership Committee.  She is proud to be a graduate of both Leadership California and Leadership Long Beach Executive Leadership Programs.
