@LBWater has received reports of individuals impersonating a vendor contracted by the City. The impersonators appear to be selling filtration devices, claiming there is an issue with water quality. We are working with appropriate parties and @LBPD to investigate these incidents. Your Long Beach tap water undergoes rigorous testing and meets strict federal and state standards. We are proud to provide our customers with exceptional quality drinking water. We advise residents to always be diligent in vetting City and Non-City workers before allowing them into your home. Some tips: 1 – Never open the door for anyone you are not expecting; Long Beach utilities (@LBWater and @LBEnergyResources) as well as our vendors don’t typically require access to your home, but we will always give you advanced notice before requesting to do so. When in doubt, call 562.570.2300 to verify their validity. 2 – Remain skeptical of anything out of the ordinary; in some instances, it seems the impersonator is traveling using a hoverboard; we will arrive in a marked vehicle or on foot and will always present a photo ID. 3 – Report suspicious activity by calling Police Dispatch at 562.435.6711 or 9-1-1 for emergencies.
