Long Beach Water Receives Partnership for Safe Water’s Award for High Quality Drinking Water Five Years in a Row

The Partnership recognizes water suppliers that continuously surpass drinking water quality requirements

Long Beach, California – Today, Long Beach Water announced that it received the prestigious Director’s Award for the fifth year in a row from the Partnership for Safe Water for its water distribution system. The award is based on significant factors that include surpassing water quality regulations and decreased water main breaks.

“We are very proud to be recognized for this award for the fifth year in a row,” said Gloria Cordero, president of the Long Beach Board of Water Commissioners. “We take seriously our responsibility to provide high quality and safe drinking water and protect our community’s public health.”

“Long Beach Water is honored to be one of only two utilities nationwide who have received this water quality award for five straight years,” said Chris Garner, general manager of Long Beach Water. “We are dedicated to providing our community with exceptional water and exceptional service every day.”

The Partnership is a drinking water program made up of regulatory agencies and organizations to recognize water suppliers that continuously provide drinking water quality that surpasses requirements through treatment plant and distribution system optimization. Utilities belonging to the Partnership participate in a rigorous self-assessment and peer review process, developed by industry experts, and achieve recognition for their commitment to the delivery of safe water for their community.

Long Beach Water’s skilled staff performed over 70,000 tests in 2018 and analyzed the samples for more than one hundred drinking water contaminants.
