Long Beach Utilities Consolidation

In the Nov. 8, 2022 General Election, Long Beach voters approved Measure BB, an initiative to amend the city charter to consolidate the city’s water, sewer and natural gas utilities.

The Long Beach City Council certified the official election results on Dec. 13, 2022.

The certification of the election results marks the official beginning of the utility consolidation process. Read more in the press release here.

In the weeks and months ahead, the department will be working internally and externally to bring forth a seamless consolidation process to best serve our customers. Details and regular updates will be shared here.

Residents and businesses should remain confident that water, sewer and natural gas services and billing will continue as normal without interruption.

A new website will soon launch at lbutilities.org, combining water and sewer information currently at lbwater.org with natural gas content currently at longbeach.gov/energyresources. In the interim, customers can continue to find information on the two existing websites.
